Such a lovely nose here on this old vines white from Andrea and Chris Mullineux, in 2020 a blend of 2/3 chenin blanc, with decreasing proportions of clairette blanche, grenache blanc, semillon, viognier, and verdelho. According to Andrea Mullineux, 2020 was the first vintage in which the vines recovered from the previous three years’ drought, re-discovering balance. And this wine is indeed spectacular, with beautiful balance of ripeness and freshness, a mix of delicacy and intensity that’s hard to match. I love the pure white fleshed orchard fruit flavours, especially the fresh-ripe pear, elegant and refined. Exceptional length. I think perhaps the best vintage yet for this wine.

Notre Mullineux Old Vines White 2023 poursuit l’alliance entre le Chenin Blanc issu de vieilles vignes et des cépages méditerranéens plantés sur les sols granitiques, schisteux et ferreux du Swartland. L'incroyable texture et la structure de cet assemblage proviennent du Chenin Blanc issu de vieilles vignes à faible rendement, cultivé sur nos trois types de sols principaux. La Clairette Blanche et le Grenache Blanc apportent des notes salines et de la fraîcheur, tandis que son parfum opulent provient du Viognier, du Sémillon Gris et du Verdelho. Ces vignobles ont jusqu’à soixante-huit ans et sont tous cultivés de manière durable.
